Main fortress is situated on Góra Forteczna (369 m above see level) in the center of Kłodzk on the area of over 30 ha. It's one the most important and most spectacular monuments of Lower Silesia. From its higher parts we can admire beautiful panorama of the town and the surrounding mountains, from the inside we can admire the remaining traces of the military culture and exhibitions devoted to the history of this place, and in the underground labyrinth we can feel the atmosphere of past soldierly life. The history of Kłodzka fortress takes its origin with erecting medieval wooden fortified castle town in XX century. The fortress had undergone a lot of reconstructions. Namely, it was rebuilt into residential-defensive rulers' castle in Kłodz up to modern fortifications system designed according to the newest requirements of art war as per XVII and XVIII century. It was made available for sightseeing not until 1960 then the fortress was officially considered as a historic monument. Nowadays, Twierdza Kłodzko is a special relic of modern military architecture still full of mysteries.
