STRONIE ŚLĄSKIE – A HISTORICAL OVERVIEW
In the picturesque Kłodzko Valley, where the Śnieżnik Massif meets the Bialskie and Złote Mountains, lies the town of Stronie Śląskie — a place with a remarkable history. Its identity has been shaped over centuries, but it was glassmaking that left the strongest mark. It was here, in 1864, that the renowned “Violetta” glassworks was established, whose masterfully crafted crystal glass products continue to impress with their craftsmanship and artistic beauty.
The town’s history is closely linked to the Losky family, particularly Wilhelm and Elise. In 1900, they built an impressive villa, now known as Villa Elise. This Art Nouveau gem reflects the region’s period of prosperity during its dynamic development. After 1945, Stronie Śląskie entered a new chapter, gradually transforming from an industrial centre into a destination eagerly visited by tourists seeking authentic experiences.
Today, Stronie Śląskie welcomes visitors year-round, supported by well-developed tourist infrastructure. Numerous cycling and skiing routes create ideal conditions for active leisure. Here, past and present intertwine, creating the unique atmosphere of a mountain resort with soul.
